On March 26, Eastern International University (EIU) organized a training workshop on Self-Assessment and Quality Improvement of Academic Programs based on the AUN-QA Version 4.0 standards. The event drew enthusiastic participation from unit leaders, faculty members, and staff across the university.
Dr. Nguyen Thanh Trong – Vice President of EIU – delivered opening remarks at the workshop
During the workshop, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lê Văn Hảo, Head of Academic Excellence, Office of Academic Affairs, shared comprehensive insights on self-assessment and quality enhancement aligned with the AUN-QA 4.0 framework. He provided a comparative analysis between Version 3.0 and Version 4.0 of the AUN-QA standards, helping participants understand key changes—most notably, the shift from 11 criteria in Version 3.0 to 8 streamlined criteria in Version 4.0.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Le Van Hao presented the structure and key features of the updated AUN-QA framework
As part of the session, Mrs. Tran Hoai Bao, Director of the Office Of Quality Assurance, delivered a focused presentation titled “Writing Self-Assessment Reports Based on AUN-QA Assessment at Programme Level Version 4.0.” She emphasized the importance of the Self-Assessment Report (SAR) as a foundational document that reflects the program’s current quality status, aligned with AUN-QA’s evaluation criteria.
Mrs. Tran Hoai Bao spoke on best practices for developing effective Self-Assessment Reports (SARs)
Mrs. Bảo also underscored a critical point:
“If an SAR is found to be invalid before or during the official assessment process, the evaluation will be canceled and the program deemed non-compliant. If the SAR is discovered to be invalid after the assessment, the results will be nullified.”
This training workshop was organized to help specialized teams gain a solid understanding of the structure, diagnostic questions, and required evidence under the AUN-QA Version 4.0 framework. It also aimed to guide departments in identifying and planning improvements for their academic programs to meet the AUN-QA standards.
