On April 23, Eastern International University (EIU) hosted the seminar “Renewable Energy Solutions for Green & Sustainable Manufacturing,” attracting active participation from EIU lecturers, staff, and students.
Dr. Nguyen Xuan Hung, Vice Dean of the School of Engineering, delivered the opening remarks, emphasizing the importance of integrating sustainability into education and industry practices.
The seminar featured engaging presentations by Ms. Nguyen Thuy Viet Thu, Head of Business Development, and Mr. Phung Ngoc Quy, Head of Project Management at Vietnam Singapore Smart Energy Solutions (VSSES). Their talks centered on the role of clean energy in advancing green manufacturing, especially as industries globally pivot toward decarbonization and digitalization.
Ms. Viet Thu highlighted VSSES’s key initiatives, such as rooftop solar systems and smart city development projects. These models are actively reducing carbon emissions and improving energy efficiency in industrial operations.
VSSES has set ambitious targets—a reduction of 640,000 tons of CO₂ and savings of 170 billion VND over five years—as part of its strong commitment to supporting businesses on their green transition journey.

The speakers also discussed sustainability strategies adopted by leading global and local enterprises. They explored how green manufacturing is becoming a top priority in international industrial policies, creating both challenges and new opportunities—especially for the emerging workforce in engineering, environmental science, and industrial management.
This shift signals a strong demand for future-ready professionals who are equipped with not only technical skills but also a sustainability mindset.
Beyond the knowledge shared, the seminar offered EIU students a valuable opportunity to align their career orientation with sustainable development strategies. The event served as both an educational forum and a strategic nudge toward preparing students for the evolving landscape of green and smart industries.
